We offer round-the-clock care at our emergency clinic. BIDMC holds a Level 1 trauma center designation from the American College of Surgeons.

Our team includes board-certified Department of Emergency Medicine physicians and trauma nurses with special training in emergency diagnosis treatments. We lead a multidisciplinary team to provide the best care.

We can quickly diagnose and treat severe injuries and complex conditions. With the capacity to care for more than 50,000 patients each year, we are equipped to handle a large population.

What To Expect

Patients may be transferred to the BIDMC Emergency Department (ED) by ambulance or helicopter. We use iPads to register patients quickly. Our on-site advanced radiology suite offers emergency ultrasound, CT scanning and other imaging technologies for fast and accurate diagnosis.

We have a laboratory open around the clock. We also offer heart and vascular tests and diagnosis, neurologic tests and diagnosis and musculoskeletal (MSK) diagnostic tests. We keep continuous communication with your primary care provider. Our facilities are designed to offer you the most privacy and comfort.

Once stable, patients may move to our advanced critical care units.
