Choose Your Best Care Option
Living healthy and well depends on having the right team at your side. BIDMC makes it easy by offering an extensive network of medical experts and locations.
If you are experiencing symptoms of a possible medical emergency — such as chest pains, stroke symptoms, difficulty breathing, or severe abdominal pain — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department right away.
Located in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s (BIDMC) West Campus and open 24 hours a day, the Berenson Emergency Department is a state-of-the-art, 23,000 square-foot emergency facility that provides care for some of the most seriously ill and injured patients. Each year, our specialists treat nearly 55,000 patients with a variety of serious conditions.
If you need help finding a patient, please call our main line at 617-754-2400.
BIDMC has both Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center designations. An acute care trauma surgeon is in the Emergency Department within minutes (always fewer than 15 minutes) of the arrival of patients with serious injuries or illnesses that might require surgery.
BIDMC has a rooftop helipad to receive patients via air ambulance, primarily Boston MedFlight. Boston MedFlight provides critical care transport to patients regardless of their ability to pay, and is supported by a consortium of Boston hospitals, including BIDMC, which is a founding member.
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you have a life-threatening illness or injury.
