At BIDMC, surgery is about teamwork, partnership and collaboration. The Department of Surgery at BIDMC is comprised of specialized divisions, each dedicated to excellence in patient care, research and education.

Research has long been one of the cornerstones of the BIDMC Department of Surgery. All divisions and nearly all faculty members, as well as trainees in surgery, participate in research programs aimed at advancing scientific discovery and fostering the translation of research into clinical practice to improve the health and well-being of patients worldwide.
