The Division of Urologic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) offers expert surgical treatment for all urologic conditions, specializing in bladder, kidney and male sexual health and fertility.
Our team includes leaders in urologic research, at the forefront of technology that advances the treatment and management of urologic disease. Through education programs, our division is committed to training the next generation of urologic surgeons to provide outstanding care.
The Division of Urologic Surgery offers an innovative approach to urologic surgery. Our team of experts focus on providing personalized treatment and mastering leading-edge advancements in medical technology to deliver the safest and best possible patient outcomes. Urologic treatments may involve the bladder, kidney, and male sexual health and fertility, including prostate care.
BIDMC works collaboratively to provide comprehensive care for cancers that affect the urinary system and male reproductive system, including urologic (genitourinary) cancer.
BIDMC is considered one of the area's foremost programs in robotic urologic surgery, and is a national leader in minimally invasive robotic procedures and innovative laser ablation techniques. Furthermore, BIDMC is the most experienced institute in the region in performing minimally invasive/robotic procedures for complex urologic conditions.
At BIDMC, 90 percent of our procedures for kidney cancer are performed minimally invasively. We are also one of the only academic centers in New England to offer robotic radical cystectomy (removal of the bladder and surrounding organs and urinary diversion) for patients with advanced bladder cancer, and we achieve excellent outcomes for patients undergoing robotic prostatectomy or laser ablation for enlarged prostate (BPH).
The Division of Urologic Surgery educates and trains future urologists, who benefit from our strong affiliation with Harvard Medical School.
Our programs provide unique training opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows through our accredited Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Fellowship Program, Urology Residency Program, and Sub-Internship Program.
Our team of expert, fellowship-trained urologists and advanced practice providers is dedicated to taking care of the general and specialized urologic needs of the community and region.
