Referring Providers
BIDMC welcomes physician referrals and the opportunity to provide excellent care for your patients.
The Level I Trauma Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) receives trauma patients directly from the scene and from referring hospitals in the region. We provide tertiary-level of trauma and ICU care, delivering the highest level of multidisciplinary expertise for adult patients with all types and severity of traumatic injuries (except burns).
In recognition of our ability to provide the highest level of care to trauma patients, BIDMC is verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and designated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a Level 1 Trauma Center. To achieve verification as a Level I Trauma Center, an organization must meet or exceed a lengthy list of strict criteria established by the American College of Surgeons, and this status must be re-verified every three years.
In addition to providing high-quality care, our center provides advanced training to practicing emergency medical service providers and other healthcare professionals, and is engaged in trauma care research.
We provide a number of educational opportunities and resources to empower members of our community, including programs and lectures about injury prevention. These programs are offered at no charge. Topics we cover may include:
