About the KIND Clinic

The Division of Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) provides gynecologic care for all — including those with developmental disabilities — in a safe, respectful and welcoming environment.

The KIND Clinic at BIDMC is the first clinic in New England to specialize in gynecologic care for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Exam rooms are wheelchair accessible and feature patient lifts. Specially trained medical assistants are available to assist in positioning for physical exams.

Who We Serve

We provide gentle and compassionate care to meet the needs of patients who are 21 years and older with these underlying diagnoses:

  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Down syndrome
  • Fragile X syndrome
  • Sanfilippo syndrome

Scheduling an Appointment

Appointments at the KIND Clinic are designed to provide patients with the time, support, and specialized care they need. Please review the information below when planning your visit.

  • Each visit is with specially trained and experienced BIDMC staff members.
  • Appointments are offered on the third Wednesday of each month.
  • New patient appointments are 60 minutes.
  • Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete patient paperwork.
