There are many benign breast changes that can occur throughout one’s lifetime that can be a cause for concern when noted. The breast specialist team at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) BreastCare Center will review any materials from prior breast assessments and perform a thorough evaluation consisting of a clinical breast exam and appropriate imaging workup to fully evaluate your concerns.

Care for Benign Breast Conditions
Breast concerns can be unsettling, but many common symptoms turn out to be benign. At the BreastCare Center, we provide expert evaluation and personalized care for both women and men experiencing non-cancerous breast conditions.
Breast Cancer Risk Assessment and Management of High-Risk Patients
Our BreastCare Center offers a multidisciplinary, comprehensive risk assessment, surveillance and prevention program for women known to be at increased risk and for those interested in learning about their risk for breast cancer.
A thorough risk assessment will be performed utilizing both standard risk assessment modeling (Gail and Tyrer-Cuzick) as well as the opportunity for the novel Clairity Breast AI risk assessment. BIDMC is the first medical center in the Northeast to offer this leading-edge, FDA-approved technology which provides a 5-year risk estimate for breast cancer acquired from a standard screening mammogram.
Examples of high-risk conditions we address:
- Atypical ductal and lobular hyperplasia
- Lobular carcinoma in-situ
- History of prior chest wall radiation as a teen or young adult
- Family history of breast cancer
Our colleagues in the Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program manage individuals with known genetic risk for breast cancer such as those with BRCA mutations.
Screening & Diagnosis
Regular breast screenings are important for early detection and peace of mind. We offer many screening and diagnostic services, including mammograms. Your primary care provider can help you understand which screenings are right for you.
