Division of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Imaging & Intervention

Musculoskeletal (MSK) Imaging & Interventions Care, Research & Education

The Division of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Imaging & Intervention at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) provides expert interpretation of medical images involving bones, joints and soft tissues to diagnose a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and diseases. As a tertiary referral center in New England for bone and soft tissue tumors, we also support imaging needs for patients from our busy Level I Trauma Center.

Our team performs more than 70,000 imaging studies each year across our Boston and community locations, offering services such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and image-guided procedures. We collaborate closely with BIDMC’s Orthopedic, Spine, Internal Medicine, Podiatry, Cancer and Rheumatology services, along with the Joslin Diabetes Clinic, to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

In addition to our care services, we have numerous education and research opportunities to help our clinical teams deliver more advanced treatment options and better care outcomes

Bone Density Scans (DEXA)

In partnership with BIDMC’s Osteoporosis & Metabolic Bone Center, we offer collaborative bone density testing to diagnose osteoporosis and bone density metabolic diseases.

Education & Training

We are committed to training future specialists and leaders in musculoskeletal care. Our education programs are designed to give physicians opportunity to hone their skills, deepen their expertise and provide exceptional patient care.

Research

In addition to our clinical work, our researchers continually strive to improve MSK interventional procedures and quality of care, and advance the care of musculoskeletal tumors, muscle imaging, cachexia and sports injuries.
