Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery

Surgical care with extra precision

Discover Advanced Laparoscopic Surgical Care

When you have surgery, precision counts. And during complex operations, precision is even more crucial. By offering a variety of advanced minimally invasive surgery techniques (i.e. robotic, laparoscopic, endoscopic), the surgical team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) offers you an extra level of precision.

BIDMC offers the most advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. This helps shorten your hospital stay and enhance your recovery. Our state-of-the-art minimally invasive operating rooms feature special cameras, scopes, lighting and digitally enhanced equipment.

Why Minimally Invasive Surgery?

Whenever possible, our surgeons use minimally invasive techniques to treat your condition. This helps you get back to doing the things you love sooner.

During robotic-assisted and laparoscopic surgery, your doctor makes small incisions at the treatment site. Tiny surgical instruments are inserted into the incisions to perform the operation. In robotic cases, the instruments are attached to robotic arms and your surgeon uses a robotic control panel to move the instruments in a careful, precise way.

This approach has many benefits for you, including the following:

  • Earlier return of bowel function after gastric surgery
  • Faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay
  • Less pain
  • Less scarring
  • Lower risk of infections and blood loss
  • Quicker return to normal activity

Minimally invasive surgery is used to diagnose and treat many conditions.
