Center for Women’s Sexual Health
Many people who identify as women may experience a sexual health concern at some point in their life. At the HCA Center for Women’s Sexual Health, we work with you — and if appropriate, your partner –—to evaluate your condition and find the right treatment.
We care for you in a discreet environment where you feel comfortable discussing your symptoms and situation. Our care team includes doctors, nurse practitioners and mental health specialists.
If you are living with sexual dysfunction, your doctor may refer you to the BIDMC Center for Intimate Health & Wellness. Many sexual function conditions are related to underlying medical, biological and lifestyle conditions. Our sexual health experts know how to treat and manage these conditions.
Women may experience sexual disfunction during distinct life transitions or after an illness. Here are examples:
- After cancer treatment for breast, ovarian and uterine cancers
- After pelvic surgery or trauma, such as childbirth injury or a hysterectomy
- During and after menopause
- During pregnancy, after childbirth and while breastfeeding
- Mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression
- Neurological impairment from illness or trauma
- Taking antidepressants, oral contraceptives and other medicines
- Vascular problems related to diabetes and heart disease
Physiological conditions and relationship issues also impact sexual health. Your care team makes a diagnosis and finds the right treatment.
Physiological conditions we address:
- Aversion to sexual activities
- Difficulty achieving orgasm
- Difficulty getting aroused
- Low sexual desire
- Never having had an orgasm
- Pain during sexual activities
- Persistent sexual arousal
Personal and relationship concerns we treat:
