Surgical Oncology
Surgery as part of cancer treatment
Cancer Surgery for Tumor Removal
As part of your cancer treatment, you may recommend surgery to remove the tumor. The Division of Surgical Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) provides compassionate, state-of-the-art surgical care for adults with a wide range of cancers.
At the BIDMC Cancer Center, you’ll benefit from our multidisciplinary approach to care. Our surgical team includes a variety of highly trained surgical subspecialists.
Using the Latest Surgical Techniques
When possible, we use minimally invasive and robot-assisted techniques for less downtime, less risk of infection, shorter length of hospital stay and other benefits. We are proud to be a regional and national leading in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
Our surgeons use image-guided surgical planning to customize your care. Your surgical team will work with BIDMC lab specialists with expertise in cancer pathology to analyze samples that surgeons take during biopsy or surgery.
