Neuro-Oncology Care, Research & Education
The Division of Neuro-Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) treats patients with primary brain and spinal tumors, metastases to the central nervous system and neurologic complications that arise from treatments.
Our team works closely with the Brain Tumor Center to provide accurate diagnosis and patient-centered care for all types of brain and spinal tumors.
The Division of Neuro-Oncology seeks to advance care by training students in medical education programs and running clinical trials through the Cancer Center.

Care & Services
The Division of Neuro-Oncology takes a collaborative approach to care, working closely with oncology, neurosurgical and other specialists across the organization. We work alongside the Brain Tumor Center, which provides diagnostic services and innovative treatments to patients with primary or metastatic central nervous system tumors.
The Newest & Best Treatments Available
In recent years, many novel and effective therapies have been developed for treating brain cancer. Our patients benefit from the newest and best treatment options and resources available.
Depending on the type of brain tumor and the treatment plan designed, patients may receive treatment with chemotherapy and/or biologic agents. These treatments may be administered in a number of ways, including oral and intravenous.
In addition to conventional treatments, the center also offers innovative, investigational brain tumor treatment such as:
- Clinical trials
- Small molecule therapies
- Immunotherapy
- Intra-tumoral treatments
- Next generation chemotherapeutic agents
Education & Training
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is accredited by the United Council of Neurologic Specialties to offer a two-year fellowship in neuro-oncology. The division also offers many additional opportunities, including:

Research
The Department of Neurology hosts research labs and programs to help advance the understanding and treatment of brain disorders.
In addition, the Cancer Center’s acclaimed clinical researchers offer patients novel treatment options through a number of cancer clinical trials.
