The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism provides expertise in the full spectrum of endocrine disorders, including pituitary, thyroid, adrenal diseases, diabetes, and obesity. Special interests of the endocrinology faculty attract patients with problems related to adrenal disorders, endocrine disorders in pregnancy, adult gender-affirming care, hypogonadism, osteoporosis/bone disorders, parathyroid disorders, PCOS/reproductive health, pituitary disorders, thyroid disorders, thyroid nodules/cancer, and weight management.

The Division is also home to leading-edge research and a nationally-recognized fellowship program. Our exceptional clinical, research and educational programs have established BIDMC as a global leader in the field of endocrinology.

Specialty Centers & Multidisciplinary Programs
  • Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Center: We specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases.
  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Center: PCOS is a condition that causes irregular menstrual periods and elevated levels of androgens (male hormones) in women.
  • Thyroid Center: The Thyroid Center is recognized for its high level of expertise in all aspects of thyroid disease (benign and malignant conditions).
  • Gender-Affirming Services: BIDMC's Gender-Affirming Services program offers compassionate, coordinated hormone therapy services for our gender diverse patients. We work collaboratively with Fenway Health and are a founding member of the New England Gender C.A.R.E. (Collaboration, Access, Research, and Education) consortium, a group of healthcare professionals dedicated to improving access to gender-affirming care.
  • Pituitary Center: Our team of endocrinologists, ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons, and radiologists collaborate to care for patients with pituitary disorders.
Collaborative Partnership with Joslin Diabetes Center

Joslin Diabetes Center provides patient-centered care to treat and manage diabetes. Joslin also offers educational programs for patients, their families and community members.

Education & Training

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism offers a range of educational opportunities, including an endocrinology grand rounds lecture series and a nationally-recognized fellowship program. These programs are designed to provide both research and clinical training, offering a comprehensive academic experience that integrates leading-edge research with practical clinical applications.
