Neuropsychological Testing
Cognitive and behavioral assessments
Understanding Your Cognitive Health
At Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), we offer comprehensive neuropsychological testing to help understand and treat various conditions affecting the brain and behavior. Our Neuropsychology Assessment Center specializes in neuropsychiatric evaluations for patients with diverse needs. These assessments are available to all patients 16 years and above.
Expert Neuropsychological Testing
Neuropsychological testing involves a series of assessments that help us understand how your brain works. These assessments evaluate your memory, attention, problem-solving skills, language and other cognitive functions. They can help diagnose and plan treatment for conditions including:
- ADHD
- Autism spectrum disorder
- Brain tumors
- Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
Your First Appointment
New patients should call 617-754-8240 to register with BIDMC before you call to schedule your appointment. During your first visit, you will meet with a neuropsychologist who will talk with you about your medical history and symptoms. This helps us create a personalized plan tailored to your needs.
What to Expect During Testing
Neuropsychological testing can take several hours, so please plan to spend most of the day with us. You will complete various tasks and answer questions that help us understand your cognitive abilities. We strive to make this process as comfortable as possible.
After Your Evaluation
Once your evaluation is complete, we will discuss the results with you. We will explain what the results mean and how they can help in your treatment plan. Our team also works with your other health care providers to ensure you receive the best care possible.
