Psychiatric Support for BIDMC Clinicians
Supporting the well-being of our physicians, psychologists and advanced practice providers
Clinician Health Service
The Clinician Health Service (CHS) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is a confidential support program dedicated to the mental health and well-being of all BIDMC-employed physicians, psychologists, advanced practice providers, PhDs, fellows and residents. Offered by the Department of Psychiatry, CHS provides a private, fee-free space where medical professionals can discuss concerns, receive assistance with problem-solving and obtain referrals for ongoing treatment if needed. This service, free of charge and available by self-referral, underscores BIDMC’s commitment to supporting the mental health of our clinical staff.
What to Expect from the CHS
The CHS process typically involves one to three confidential consultation sessions designed to identify issues, address immediate concerns and recommend further resources if necessary. These sessions are completely confidential, with no billing or online records, ensuring a safe and private setting for providers seeking help.
- Who Can Access CHS: Any BIDMC-employed physician, psychologist, advanced practice provider, PhD, fellow or resident.
- Confidentiality: Information from CHS consultations is not shared without explicit permission, except in cases of significant risk of harm to self or others.
Promoting Resilience
BIDMC’s Cultivating Resilience Initiative offers additional resources through the Department of Social Work’s Provider Resiliency Training & Support. Explore programs and resources designed to build resilience and support provider well-being as they care for victims of violence and trauma.
