Physician Expertise
At BIDMC, we have assembled a team of nationally and internationally renowned pancreas specialists. We lead the region and the country in minimally invasive pancreatic surgery. We perform a high volume of surgical and minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat pancreatic cancers and disorders.
Surgeons use minimally invasive techniques, including state-of-the-art robotic surgery with BIDMC's two DaVinci robotic systems, to biopsy, stage and treat pancreatic tumors. We are recognized widely for our surgical expertise in laparoscopic pancreatectomy, through which part of or even the entire pancreas is removed using minimally invasive techniques.
Compared to traditional "open" procedures, these minimally invasive approaches feature smaller incisions that allow better pain control, minimize blood loss, enhance cosmetic results, and speed recovery back to an active life.

Rapid Access
We see patients in our Pancreatic Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic for suspected pancreatic disorders and other urgent conditions as soon as possible. Waiting increases stress at an already stressful time, and our goal is to schedule your appointment within 24 hours.
We also offer ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound for diagnosis or palliation (symptom relief) of pancreatic cancer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you have a pancreatic tumor that warrants surgery, you can expect immediate contact from our offices, and a personal office appointment with our expert pancreatic surgeons within days.
With rapid access comes symptom relief and peace of mind, as well as the assurance that you will receive prompt diagnosis and treatment from a team that cares about your health and well-being, and ready to guide you every step of the way.
