Hematology & Oncology Research

Advancing Cancer Research

The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Division of Hematology/Oncology is engaged in leading-edge basic, translational and clinical cancer research. We participate in six of the National Cancer Institute-sponsored Specialized Programs in Research Excellence (SPORE) Grants at the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. This includes lung, prostate, breast, ovarian, skin and kidney research programs. Our investigators receive significant funding from the National Institutes of Health, and many are members of BIDMC's Cancer Research Institute.

Cancer Research Institute

The Cancer Research Institute at BIDMC is a hub of interdisciplinary excellence, bringing together extraordinary researchers dedicated to curing cancer.

Our scientists have pioneered groundbreaking ideas that now form the bedrock of cancer biology. Their seminal research has uncovered the mechanisms of angiogenesis, led to the development of innovative vaccines that harness the immune system to combat cancer, and revealed the therapeutic potential of noncoding RNAs, once dismissed as "junk" genetic material.

Division of Hematology

The Division of Hematology, part of the Department of Medicine, offers world-class patient care, research programs, and education and training opportunities.
