BIDMC's Center for Endoscopic Innovation (CEI) is a leader in local, national, and international research trials investigating new endoscopic technologies. Current areas of active investigation include:

  • Quality and safety in endoscopy and GI anesthesia
  • Artificial intelligence applications for GI endoscopy
  • Cryoablation techniques for eradication of Barrett's esophagus
  • Use of lumen-apposing metal stents for pancreatic drainage and necrosectomy
  • Novel treatments for GERD
  • Fine needle biopsy techniques for pancreatic cancer and cysts to grow 'organoids' for discovery and validation of personalized chemotherapuetic approaches
  • Developmental research in advanced resection and third space endoscopy
