Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center Research

Research for IBD Treatments

The Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is a tertiary referral center focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Under the leadership of Dr. Cheifetz and through close collaborations with other IBD centers, both nationally and internationally, we are working to improve the lives of patients with IBD. Our team is focused on several areas of research in the field of IBD and are leading the way in the field of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of biologics in IBD. In addition, the Center for IBD is well-known for innovative clinical and translational research looking at precision medicine and novel therapeutic targets for treating IBD.

Current areas of active investigation in IBD include:

  • Therapeutic drug monitoring of biologics
  • Novel pharmacological therapy
  • Healthcare utilization during pregnancy and postpartum
  • Quality improvement
  • Regulation of immune response
  • Precision medicine
  • Novel endoscopic techniques for colorectal cancer screening
