Technology Ventures Office
The Technology Ventures Office (TVO) supports BIDMC, Joslin Diabetes Center, and Lahey Health & Medical Center by helping turn research and innovation into real-world solutions that benefit patients and society. By working closely with our investigators and researchers, the TVO manages intellectual property, negotiates pre-clinical research and license agreements, and catalyzes alliances with industry.

Our Role
TVO connects discoveries with the resources needed to advance them, including licensing opportunities, collaborations, and funding support. Our mission is to foster innovation while generating revenue to support future research across the institution.

What We Do
Research Agreements
Negotiate and manage agreements that support research, including material transfer, intellectual property and licensing, data use, pre-clinical sponsored research, industry collaborations, visiting scientist, and confidentiality agreements.
Intellectual Property & Licensing
Evaluate and patent inventions, manage prosecution, and market and license BIDMC innovations.
Industry Partnerships
Facilitate collaborations with biomedical companies, venture capital, and translational funding sources.
Company Formation
Support BIDMC faculty in launching new ventures, including connections to VCs and non-dilutive funding (e.g., SBIRs, foundations).
Commercialization Pathways
Provide guidance and resources to help translate discoveries into clinical and commercial applications.
Royalty Distribution
Manage and distribute royalty income from license agreements in accordance with BIDMC policy.
