Research at BIDMC

A Vision for Modern Research

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) has a long tradition of advancing discovery, fostering innovation, and translating science into better care for patients. To build on this foundation, BIDMC has launched the Institutional Strategic Plan for Innovation, Research & Education (InSPIRE), a comprehensive roadmap designed to reimagine and strengthen our research enterprise for the future.

The InSPIRE Strategic Plan: Innovation, Research & Education at BIDMC

Guided by Gyongyi Szabo, MD, PhD, Chief Academic Officer of BIDMC and the Beth Israel Lahey Health system, InSPIRE focuses on three core ambitions:

  • Expanding access to leading-edge technologies that fuel rigorous, state-of-the-art science
  • Harnessing clinical data to improve patient outcomes and advance personalized medicine
  • Building a diverse, collaborative research community that supports faculty and trainees at every stage of their careers

Strategic Priorities

The plan is organized around key priorities that ensure BIDMC remains at the forefront of discovery:

Foundational Pillars

Each goal of InSPIRE is built on enduring commitments:

  • Collaboration – Bringing together investigators with complementary expertise to spark innovation
