Care & Services

Our top priority is to ensure local healthcare leaders have the ability to deliver life-saving emergency care to communities around the world.

We want you and your loved ones to have access to the essential care services you need whenever an emergency or disaster strikes.

Education & Training

Residents can take advantage of a wide range of international academic and clinical opportunities, including the Harvard Humanitarian Studies Initiative for Residents.

This program trains residents in humanitarian response to disaster and refugee crises. This two year educational program includes a two-week intensive course on humanitarian issues followed by a month-long international field placement in a humanitarian setting.

Research

Our teams conduct leading-edge research to help advance the study and practice of emergency medicine.

Focus areas include:

  • Characterizing the nature of emergency medical care delivery systems in different countries around the world.
  • Developing research tools to assess quality of care and effectiveness of different strategies for emergency medical care delivery.

DIDEM has also collaborated with the International Atomic Energy Agency on educational projects.
