We offer outstanding training programs for medical students, residents and fellows. Dedicated faculty members are committed to providing a comprehensive education in anesthesiology.
The professional and personal satisfaction of each department member is paramount to the success of our patient care, teaching and research endeavors. In addition to our educational programs, our division also sponsors a medical education institute, the Center for Education Research, Technology and Innovation (CERTAIN), that publishes leading-edge educational research in many national publications.
More About Anesthesia Education
The Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine Department has committed a tremendous amount of resources and energy toward developing a robust wellness program dedicated to the health and wellbeing of all members of the anesthesia department, including our residents and fellows.
As part of this program, residents and fellows have been given financial and organizational support to host resident events such as apple picking, beach days, and outings such as “Escape the Room.” Our trainees are an integral part of our department and we are committed to give them a culture of respect, support and fun along with the academic and clinical rigor of their training.
BIDMC’s Shapiro Simulation & Skills Center uses mannequins, trained confederates and actors, special effects and real equipment to provide state-of-the-art simulation of the anesthesia experience. This enables physicians to practice their skills in medical scenarios that closely resemble live clinical settings.
