Referring Providers
BIDMC welcomes physician referrals and the opportunity to provide excellent care for your patients.
The Division of Gerontology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is dedicated to providing personalized senior health care to adults aged 65 and older. Our Division is involved in patient care, medical education and clinical research.
Our team, which includes geriatricians, geriatric nurse practitioners, geriatric psychiatrists, and social workers, understands the unique physical, mental, and emotional challenges of aging. We work closely with patients, families, and caregivers to enhance quality of life.
The Division of Gerontology partners and collaborates with several local short- and long-term care facilities, including rehabilitation, transitional, assisted living and skilled nursing.
The Division of Gerontology partners closely with the Departments of Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry to ensure our patients are properly cared for in all areas of their health.
While caring for patients, the Division of Gerontology and its Memory Clinic collaborate closely with the Department of Neurology and the Division of Cognitive Neurology to provide compassionate brain health and aging services and care for Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory loss.
Quality of care is a top priority for the Division of Gerontology. We are always looking for ways to enhance patient care, minimize risk, and improve outcomes. Osteoporosis screenings and the reduction of benzodiazepines are just two examples of the initiatives the division is leading to optimize quality and safety of care.
BIDMC provides a variety of educational opportunities in gerontology, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of academics and future program participants.
The BIDMC Gerontology Division is actively engaged in cutting-edge research in aging all designed translate the latest research knowledge into clinical practice.
