More About Sleep Disorder Treatments
Our Center has strong clinical and research expertise in diagnosing and managing sleep-breathing disorders caused by abnormal breathing control. We use FDA-approved and off-label techniques for diagnosis, therapy, and treatment tracking. This helps us manage and provide individualized care for patients with complex sleep-disordered breathing.
Our Sleep Disorders Center has unique expertise in evaluating and treating complex circadian rhythm disorders. Our clinicians use specialized testing including activity monitoring plus measuring markers of circadian rhythms such as melatonin and cortisol profiles to measure sleep quality and duration. We also use home blood pressure tracking devices to assist in diagnosis and treatment. We also offer in-lab sleep studies aligned to different sleep-wake schedules. This enables personalized evaluation and optimization of sleep timing and quality.
Hypoglossal nerve stimulation is a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. It involves implanting a pacemaker that stimulates the tongue. Our Sleep Medicine and Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) teams determine patient eligibility. Otolaryngology providers place the implant and Sleep Medicine specialists provide post-implant care.
Our Center has strong clinical and research expertise in excessive daytime sleepiness disorders. We provide you with personalized evaluation and treatment to improve your sleep health and daytime function.
Phrenic nerve stimulation treats central sleep apnea. It involves implanting a pacemaker that stimulates the diaphragm. Our Sleep Medicine and Cardiology teams will determine your eligibility for phrenic nerve stimulation. Cardiology providers place the implant and Sleep Medicine specialists provide post-implant care.
Our Sleep Disorders Center has expertise in managing patients with:
- Advanced lung disease.
- Severely compromised nocturnal breathing secondary to advanced neurologic disease.
- Severe obesity hypoventilation.
Our Assisted Ventilation Program provides advanced therapies and a personalized approach to support inadequate breathing during sleep, often using home ventilators.
