Top surgery is also known as chest reconstruction. It alters the chest contour to align with your gender identity. Options include but are not limited to:
- Breast Augmentation: Enhances breast size and shape for both transfeminine and transmasculine patients. Breast reduction surgery is a common procedure that can help achieve a more androgynous appearance.
- Peri-Areolar Mastectomy: Removes breast tissue through a small incision around the areola.
- Double Incision Mastectomy / Nipple Grafting: Removes breast tissue and excess skin. Nipple grafting allows for a masculine chest appearance.
Bottom surgery is also known as genital reconstruction. It alters the genitalia to align with your gender identity. Options include but are not limited to:
- Abdominal Phalloplasty: Creation of a penis using tissue from lower abdomen
- Latissimus Dorsi Phalloplasty: Creation of a penis using tissue from back
- Minimal/Zero Depth Vaginoplasty: Creation of a vagina without a full vaginal canal
- Orchiectomy: Removal of the testicles
- Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty: Creation of a vagina with full depth using lining from the pelvis as well as penile/scrotal skin
- Radial Forearm (RFF) Phalloplasty: Creation of a penis using tissue from forearm
- Thigh (ALT) Phalloplasty: Creation of a penis using tissue from the thigh
- Sigmoid Vaginoplasty: Creation of a vagina with a portion of the large bowel
- Simple Metoidioplasty: Clitoral release w/wo scrotum
- Single Stage Metoidioplasty: Clitoral release, lengthening of the urethra, scrotoplasty and hysterectomy/oophorectomy when desired

Our fellowship-trained laryngologists work closely with our voice-specializing speech language pathologists (SLPs) as part of an interdisciplinary team to help our patients achieve their vocal goals. Patients undergo voice evaluation and therapy and are followed by our team closely during their clinical course. When indicated, there are surgical options for voice that can be considered. The most common is pitch elevation surgery, or Wendler glottoplasty. Tracheal shave, or thyroid cartilage shave is another surgery that we offer to reduce the appearance of the ‘Adam’s Apple.’
