Translational Research to Improve Care

The Division of Podiatry at BIDMC provides patients with high quality, advanced foot and ankle care in a comfortable environment. Our surgeons are known for their expertise in specialized surgical procedures for a variety of simple and complex conditions, including diabetic foot care and reconstructive foot surgery. Our team also conducts podiatry research to improve patient care and train the next generation of podiatrists.

The surgeons and investigators in the Division of Podiatry are engaged in research aimed at improving treatments for podiatry patients. Our researchers have been the principal investigators on NIH, ADA and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) grants, as well as for several industry-sponsored clinical trials. In addition, our investigators focus on "bench to bedside" research and look at new ways to study diabetes and its complications, with the main emphasis on wound healing and cardiovascular disease.
