Meet the Hematology/Oncology Faculty & Leadership
Our hematology/oncology faculty and leadership team guides our fellows as they train to become specialists in hematology and oncology research, education and clinical care.

We invite you to explore the rich offerings afforded by our Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Training Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.
For over 40 years, we have offered rigorous clinical training coupled with world-class faculty expertise and mentorship at the leading-edge of Hematology/Oncology. Reflective of the exponential growth in our understanding of the scientific basis of human disease, comprehensive models of compassionate patient care, and diversity of career opportunities that now exist within our vast discipline, we have evolved our program to include three highly individualized and innovative longitudinal pathways for deliberate career development:
- Traditional Hematology/Oncology Track
- Hematology/Oncology & Hospice and Palliative Medicine Track
- Hematology Track
Applicants are welcome to apply to any or all tracks that are concordant with their career objectives. Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Residency
Match Program (NRMP) - all applications and matches must be submitted via these platforms. All applications must be submitted and complete in ERAS by/before August 1st of each application year; we regret that
applications received or completed after this date will not be considered.
Each year, our program seeks to recruit seven new exceptionally qualified fellows: six in Hematology/Oncology and Hematology/Oncology & Hospice and Palliative Medicine; one in Hematology.
In 2022, BIDMC was one of nine institutions nationwide selected to receive the prestigious Hematology-Focused Fellowship Training Program (HFFTP) award, granted by the American Society of Hematology (ASH).
In 2023, BIDMC additionally joined an elite cohort of programs nationwide participating in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)-sponsored Advancing Innovation in Residency Education (AIRE) ACGME pilot program to offer a combined fellowship training experience in Hematology/Oncology and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Our aim is to produce scholars who will devote their careers, in different proportions, to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical/basic research. Every effort is made to tailor the experience to the individual interests and needs of our trainees. We expect that all graduates of our program will become first-class clinicians, teachers, and investigators. In recognition of the program's success in producing physician-scientists, the NIH has provided training grant support to the program for over 30 years.
