Care for Patients with Sarcoidosis

The Cardiac Sarcoid Center brings together experts in Cardiology, Pulmonary and Rheumatology, to provide coordinated care for patients with sarcoidosis.

The BIDMC Cardiac Sarcoid Center provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with suspected and confirmed cardiac sarcoidosis. Our team uses advanced diagnostic testing, leading-edge tools to modify the immune system response, and implantable devices to help regulate the heart. We are also leaders in performing catheter ablation to treat complex arrhythmias. The center is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of physicians who work together to facilitate coordinated and state-of-the-art care for patients with this disease in the outpatient setting and in the hospital.

Treating Sarcoidosis

Patients at the Sarcoid Center will undergo a thorough evaluation, including a detailed exam, and may include advanced imaging as appropriate. Cardiac sarcoidosis can be treated through medicine to decrease inflammation in the heart and potentially prevent the disease from progressing. A pacemaker or another device may be recommended to avoid irregular heart activity.
