Dr. Blair Wylie Joins BIDMC and HMFP To Lead OB/GYN Department
BOSTON — Blair J. Wylie, MD, MPH, has joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and its physician organization, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP), as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Wylie will lead the department’s clinical services, research and education programs.

Prior to joining BIDMC, Wylie served as the Vice Chair for Faculty Development and Mentoring in the Department of OB/GYN at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. She was also the Virgil G. Damon Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Professor of Environmental Health Sciences, which is a joint appointment between Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. In addition, she was the founding director of The Collaborative for Women’s Environmental Health at Columbia. Prior to her work at Columbia, Wylie served as Division Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at BIDMC.

Kimball, MD, MPH, President and CEO of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP). “She has an exemplary track record of turning her discoveries into practical guidance for both clinicians and patients to achieve positive health outcomes.”
Dr. Wylie’s research has focused on global maternal/child health with a particular interest in prenatal environmental exposures such as smoke from cooking fires, pesticides from subsistence farming, and climate-related factors like heat and air pollution with ongoing projects in Ghana, Tanzania, and Pakistan. Also, she has held national leadership roles including Chair of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM)’s Global Heath Committee, Chair of the Foundation for SMFM’s Queenan Fellowships for Global Health, Chair of SMFM’s 2025 Annual Meeting, and serves on the Board for the SMFM and as a board examiner with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Wylie received her bachelor's degree from Princeton University and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She studied epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, where she received her master's in public health. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington Medical Center and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Columbia University. She is board-certified in maternal fetal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology.
