May 20, 2020 – Editor’s Note: Bowdoin Street Health Center is now testing asymptomatic patients who have been in close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19.
Dorchester, MA – Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, expanded its ambulatory COVID-19 testing locations today with the addition of a site at Bowdoin Street Health Center. This site welcomes all patients, including those who are uninsured. Appointments are preferred but not required.
"As always, we are committed to serving our communities in and around Boston — and this includes providing access to COVID-19 testing," said Kamau Karanja, MD, Medical Director of Bowdoin Street Health Center. "We are happy to offer this important service to our Bowdoin/Geneva community."
The site, located at 230 Bowdoin Street in Dorchester, offers testing six days a week in multiple languages, including Cape Verdean Creole, Spanish and Portuguese. Patients arriving by car who have an appointment may stay in their car for the duration of their test. Walk-up visits are also available.
Patients should seek testing if they are experiencing symptoms, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
Testing Hours of Operation
- Monday - Friday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Saturday: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Patients should call Bowdoin Street Health Center at 617-754-0100 to make an appointment.
