Medicine-Pediatrics Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training
About Our Medicine-Pediatrics ID Training
Interested and qualified applicants are accepted to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC)-Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) Combined Medicine-Pediatrics Infectious Diseases Fellowship training track on a case-by-case basis. Because this track is not a formal combined Infectious Diseases (ID) fellowship program through the NRMP, interested candidates should apply to both the BIDMC and BCH categorical ID fellowship programs through ERAS and indicate in the personal statement a desire to pursue combined training. BIDMC and BCH Infectious Diseases Fellowship program directors, Dr. Wendy Stead and Dr. Tanvi Sharma, work together closely to review fellowship applications and coordinate interview invitations for eligible candidates. Once a candidate matches with our programs, a petition is submitted for combined training to the ABIM and ABP.
Our first Medicine-Pediatrics ID fellow graduated from this combined program in 2017 and we have successfully matched 6 fellows to this training track since its inception. Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to reach out with any questions to either Dr. Stead or Dr. Sharma. We would love to hear from any fellows interested in this unique and exciting training pathway.
Learn more about our current fellows on our Infectious Diseases Program Fellows page (look for "Medicine Pediatrics ID Fellow" under their names).
