Prepare for an MS Clinic Appointment
Appointments and Prescriptions
New Patients
Be sure to have previous neurologists fax or send your medical records, including MRI films (CD is preferred), to us before the date of your visit. Please be aware that many insurance plans will require a referral from your primary care physician before you can schedule a visit with an MS specialist at BIDMC. Contact your insurance to learn whether you need to obtain an authorization prior to your visit. When you arrive for your visit, please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure time to complete paperwork. Please be sure to bring your insurance card and any authorization your insurance has sent you.
Returning Patients
Please be aware that some insurance plans require an authorization from your primary care physician before each visit to an MS specialist. Contact your insurance to learn whether you will need an authorization prior to your visit to the center. Please be sure to bring your insurance card to all visits.
Canceling an Appointment
Please do so as early as possible so we can offer the appointment to another patient.
Prescription Refills
Please have your pharmacy fax a refill request to 617-667-1869. This is the quickest way to obtain your refill. Be aware that some managed plans are now requiring preauthorization for interferon medications. Please be sure to contact MS Center staff a month before your prescription expires to obtain authorization.
