Obstetrics & Gynecology Medical Education
Advanced Training in OB/GYN
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center offers a full education program for medical students, residents, and fellows. Our patient-centered philosophy, coupled with state-of-the-art facilities and technologies, gives a unique blend of art and science. Our department collaborates with other departments within the medical center so learners are exposed to all aspects of women's health care. We offer an OB/GYN residency; fellowships in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology), Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and a combined program in Maternal Fetal Medicine & Medical Genetics and Genomics; as well as a clerkship for medical students.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is also committed to improving health outcomes for women around the world, and our Division of Global and Community Health offers robust training to help physicians address health disparities and transform care in underserved communities, both locally and globally.
Residency
The "small college" residency of Harvard Medical School, our program features innovative teaching methods and opportunities for research while emphasizing academic rigor and empathic, individualized care.
Fellowships
Our department offers four fellowships in the Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and a combined program in MFM and Medical Genetics and Genomics subspecialties.
Clerkship
Our clerkship exposes current medical students to the varied types of clinical practice in OB/GYN over six weeks with time spent in an ambulatory setting, labor and delivery, and the gynecologic operating room.
