Director, Underrepresented in Medicine Trainee Affairs

Pablo Quintero Pinzón is the Director of Underrepresented in Medicine Trainee Affairs for the Department of Medicine, Director of the Latinx Cardiovascular Clinic, and Medical Director, Heart Transplant Program at BIDMC. He is a faculty member of the Division of Cardiology/Advanced Heart Failure. He received his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia) and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and subspecialty training in Cardiology at BIDMC. He subsequently completed an Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. During his cardiology training, he worked in Dr. Anthony Rosenzweig’s laboratory studying molecular mechanisms involved in heart failure remodeling that included TGF-β pathway family members. After joining BIDMC as faculty, he created a Heart Failure Bio-repository in order to facilitate translational research efforts within the division. He also leads a multidisciplinary amyloid clinic. He is actively working with other Spanish-speaking providers across the medical center to create a system that facilitates medical access to the Latinx community with the goal of providing culturally oriented care.

Ria Roberts is the Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Advocacy for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Director for Diversity Recruitment and Retention within the Department of Medicine at BIDMC. She is originally from the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and completed her medical school tenure at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She subsequently went on to become a Yale-trained internist and Harvard-educated geriatrician, serving clinically as a part-time Clinical Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Academic Hospitalist at BIDMC. Outside of BIDMC, she is the Medical Director for Lowell Community Health Center’s Program for Healthy Aging, a geriatric-focused clinic that addresses the complex needs of older adults. Her dedication to diversity in medicine, astute leadership, and comprehensive care philosophy make her an invaluable asset to the BIDMC community.

Daniele Ölveczky is a proud native of Trinidad and Tobago. She attended Dillard University, a historically Black College and University then attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she obtained an MD and a Master’s degree in Neuroscience. She completed her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center followed by a geriatrics fellowship at BIDMC and BWH. She is a hospitalist at BIDMC where she works primarily as a nocturnist. She is also the Physician Director for the Center for Diversity Equity and Inclusion at BIDMC. In this role, she designs, implements, and evaluates BIDMC’s strategic plan for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.

Director of Mentorship for Underrepresented in Medicine
Email Dr. Halford

Brittne Halford is the residency program's Director of Mentorship for Underrepresented in Medicine. Dr. Halford is a hospitalist and a Stoneman Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Preceptor. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University and completed her residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Halford then spent two years as an attending physician at Emory before joining faculty at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Dr. Halford is deeply committed to providing equitable patient care. She was the impetus for the “Hair Care for All” initiative at Beth Israel Lahey, which focuses on inclusivity by providing hair products suitable for all patients, ensuring culturally competent and respectful care across diverse populations. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Halford is passionate about financial wellness. She is a financial coach for women in healthcare and has spoken at numerous conferences on financial empowerment. Through her work, she aims to promote overall wellness by improving financial literacy.

Appointed as the first dean for diversity and community partnership in January 2002, Joan Reede, MD, is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive program that provides leadership, guidance, and support to promote the increased recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented minority faculty at Harvard Medical School. This charge includes oversight of all diversity activities at HMS as they relate to faculty, trainees, students, and staff.

Alden M. Landry, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Assistant Dean for the Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership, and Associate Director and Advisor for William B. Castle Society. He also serves as Senior Faculty at the Disparities Solutions Center at Massachusetts General Hospital and is the founder and co-director of the non-profit organization Motivating Pathways.
