The Gastroenterology and Liver (Hepatology) service at Chestnut Hill evaluates and treats a variety of digestive diseases. These diseases and conditions, affecting the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, liver, bile ducts, pancreas or gallbladder, include:
- Polyps, tumors and cancers of the digestive tract
- Chronic, acute and autoimmune pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer
- Barrett’s esophagus and other esophageal disorders
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Gallstones
- Liver conditions such as viral hepatitis, HIV/hepatitis co-infection, metabolic liver diseases
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Celiac sprue (gluten allergy)
- Biliary tract disease
