About Spine Surgery at BIDMC
Spine surgery is the best option for a very small percentage of patients with spine conditions.
The Spine Center at BIDMC strives to
provide our patients with information to help you learn more about your
condition and treatment choices — use these materials as an additional
resource.
Learn all about having spine surgery at our Spine Center, from your initial consultation through follow-up care. We have a series of videos that can help you, along with an informative PDF, which your specialist should also provide you with before surgery.
Virtual Preparation Class for Spine Surgery
If you will be undergoing spine surgery at our Spine Center, attend our pre-op class to learn more. This class is strongly recommended for our spine surgery patients, to help you prepare for your procedure and understand what to expect.
This class includes:
- Orientation and tour through your hospital stay
- Introduction to staff roles involved in your care during your stay
- Pain management following surgery
- Physical therapy
- Case management & preparing for discharge
- Open forum for Q&A
Classes will be held online the first Tuesday of every month from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, and will be scheduled by your surgeon's administration staff. Once scheduled, we will send a Zoom link for the class via email. You are also welcome to have a family member or friend join in. We look forward to seeing you.
