Inpatient Physical Therapy
Inpatient physical therapy services are provided by licensed professionals organized into care teams based on a patient's medical condition or illness.
How Does Physical Therapy Help?
The primary reason for physical therapy in a hospital setting is to evaluate and treat patients with complex medical conditions that have impaired physical mobility. One of the main roles of the inpatient physical therapist in this setting is to recommend a plan for rehabilitation after discharge from the hospital. Consultation and treatment require a referral from a BIDMC physician.
Hours
Inpatient physical therapy services are available daily, including all weekends and holidays, from 7:30 am to 6 pm. Services on weekends and holidays are limited to prioritized consults and those patients being discharged home on a Saturday or Sunday.
