Endurance Training and Conditioning
Physical therapists work with patients who have become weak from a
prolonged hospital stay. They evaluate their patient's response to exercise by monitoring vital
signs during activities such as walking or climbing stairs. If required
they may develop a treatment program listing specific guidelines for
exercising safely and rebuilding endurance. Therapists may delegate daily
exercise routines to other staff, such as Physical Therapy Cooperative
Program students or to other technical staff under their supervision.
