Our Mission
We provide our patients with the most advanced, personalized cancer therapies. We deliver cutting edge treatment and healing focused on the patient and family experience. This care is informed by our breakthrough research platforms incorporating RNA medicine, immunotherapies, organoids and co-clinical trials at the Mouse Hospital.
Award-Winning Care
BIDMC's Leon V. and Marilyn L. Rosenberg Clinical Cancer Center is the only cancer center in Massachusetts, and one of only 34 in the country, to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The commission is a consortium of professional organizations that includes the American Cancer Society, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Radiology, the Oncology Nursing Society the American College of Surgeons. The commission's goal is to reduce cancer death and disease by promoting education, setting standards and monitoring the quality of care that is delivered.
BIDMC is a member of the Harvard Cancer Collaborative. It continues to earn high marks in patient satisfaction surveys for our clinical excellence in cancer care and related services.
Our Research
The Cancer Center is a major center of cancer research, encompassing basic research, translational research and clinical trials. Our Cancer Clinical Trials Office provides patients with experimental treatment options that go beyond the standard of care. The Cancer Research Institute's researchers are responsible for breakthroughs across the spectrum of cancer science, from genetics to signal transduction to RNA medicine and beyond. BIDMC, a founding member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, is a major recipient of funding from the National Institutes of Health.
Our Network
The Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center delivers advanced cancer care in collaboration with affiliates throughout Eastern Massachusetts. The Cancer Center has formed these affiliations with community-based colleagues who share our commitment to providing patients with personalized treatment, clinical excellence and compassionate care.
Typically patients receive most of their care in the community setting. When diagnostic tools or specialized procedures that are not available in the community are needed, the community-based oncologist makes a seamless referral to the BIDMC Cancer Center in Boston.
