Bladder Cancer Specialized Treatment

Bladder cancer doctor and patient

BIDMC offers the most advanced diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer with an expert, multidisciplinary team of medical oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists and radiation oncologists.

We are one of a handful of centers throughout the country offering an innovative procedure in which surgeons build a new bladder, known as a neobladder, by using tissue from the small intestine. This surgery, which allows patients to urinate "naturally," is called "robot-assisted radical cystectomy with intracorporeal neobladder."

If you have been diagnosed with bladder cancer and need a consultation, or if you would like a second opinion, you will meet with our team who will discuss your case and together, using our unique perspectives and expertise to come up with an individualized treatment plan for you.

Bladder cancer treatment and surgery can sometimes lead to temporary or long-term side effects that may affect bladder function, sexual function, mood and other aspects of health. We will work with you, every step of the way, to address any concerns you may have about quality of life or potential side effects, including those related to sexual health and bladder function.
