Dietetic Internship Application Process
How To Apply
Applicants should apply to the BIDMC dietetic internship via the DICAS portal.
For your convenience, Boston-area independent dietetic internships and universities have collaborated to coordinate application and acceptance notification due dates. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston University, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Delicious Living Nutrition, the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Simmons University, Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts, together, agreed to align dates for Fall and Spring application cycles. They are as follows:
Fall
- October 8 – applicants must submit all application materials on DICAS by October 8
- November 1 – programs must notify applicants of the program’s decision by the end of the business day on November 1
- November 15 – applicants must notify the program by either accepting or declining the offer by 5:00pm EST on November 15
Spring
- January 15 – applicants must submit all application materials on DICAS by January 15
- March 1 – programs must notify applicants of the program’s decision by the end of the business day on March 1
- March 15 – applicants must notify the program by either accepting or declining the offer by 5:00 pm EST on March 15
Admission Requirements and Information
- Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, and Verification Statement from an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD).
- Still an undergraduate student? We have a partnership with Boston University’s MS/DI program. Learn more here.
- GPA: We desire a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0. However, we will not disqualify an applicant on GPA exclusively.
- Recency of Education: If an applicant’s DPD verification is more than 3 years old at the time of application, we require evidence of recent education (i.e. completion of at least six credits in dietetics-related coursework, or equivalent, within three years of admission to the program).
- Credit for Prior Work Experience/Learning: We do not grant credit for prior work experience or learning.
Application Procedure
Complete your application using the Dietetic Internship Centralized Application Service, also known as DICAS. Note: There is a fee to use DICAS - $50 for the first application and $25 for each additional application.
A complete application includes the standard application form, a personal statement, transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, and 3 letters of reference (1 professor or academic advisor, 1 work/volunteer supervisor, and 1 from either another professor or work/volunteer supervisor).
Complete our supplemental application, and mail with the nonrefundable $75 DI application fee. You may pay via personal check, cashier's check, or money order only (no electronic bank payments, please). Make checks payable to BIDMC Nutrition Services. Both the payment and supplemental application must be postmarked by the application deadline. Mail to the address below:
