Endometriosis Care or Surgical Management of Endometriosis
An estimated one out of every 10 women in the United States suffers from endometriosis. The experts at BIDMC work with you to make the diagnosis and treat patients with suspected or known endometriosis to help alleviate painful symptoms and manage long-term health.
Diagnosis may include pelvic exam, ultrasound, MRI, and in some cases, laparoscopy – a procedure that allows the surgeon to view inside your abdomen to look for endometrial tissue outside the uterus.
We recognize surgery is only one part of the equation and we will work with your primary gynecologist to help formulate a treatment plan. Our team provides surgical excision of endometriosis, hysterectomy if indicated and surgical management of advanced stage endometriosis. Our multidisciplinary surgical team is led by a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon and includes specialists in colorectal surgery, urology and fertility.
