Center for Healthcare Delivery Science

Healthcare Delivery Science Research

White board with The Science of Better Care on it

The Center for Healthcare Delivery Science is dedicated to understanding why and how we deliver the medical care that we do with the goal of providing more reliable, high quality care to our patients. As a trusted internal research group, the Center is positioned to answer operational questions with new research methods that yield substantial results. Our vision is to build and study healthcare system innovations throughout Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and to translate that learning to generalizable knowledge that contributes to changing the standard of how healthcare is delivered across the country.

Our research interests and educational programs are organized around three broad focus areas of inquiry and opportunity:

  • The contribution of machine learning to clinical care
  • Ensuring equity in the delivery of healthcare
  • Achieving high value care

In each of these areas, our work is informed by operational and organizational priorities.

Director Jennifer P. Stevens, MD, MSAs a founding leader in the field of healthcare delivery science, the Center is committed to training and supporting a new generation of healthcare delivery science researchers, thereby multiplying the influence of the Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in transforming healthcare.
