Dr. Veves is the Rongxiang Xu, MD, Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Research Director of the Microcirculation Lab and Beth Israel Deaconess-Joslin Foot Center at BIDMC. He received his MD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, an MSc from the University of Manchester, and a DSc from Athens Medical School. His research interests include vascular reactivity of the micro- and macrocirculation; etiology of diabetic foot problems; pathophysiology of wound healing in diabetes; and the development of diabetic neuropathy and its interaction with skin microcirculation.

Elliot L. Chaikof, MD, PhD

Dr. Chaikof is Johnson and Johnson Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chair of the Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner Department of Surgery at BIDMC. He is a member of the Wyss Institute of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, and the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. Dr. Chaikof received his MD from Johns Hopkins and a PhD in chemical engineering from MIT. His research interests lie at the interface of medicine and engineering, with a focus on drug discovery and tissue engineering for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Eric Wang, MD, CCRP, RAC

Dr. Wang is Secretary General of the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation and Executive Vice President of Skingenix, Inc. Dr. Wang graduated from China Medical University, the Graduate School of Dalian Medical University and attended the University of California, Irvine, where he pursued advance study in medical product development and clinical trials for medical device and drug development. He is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, the American Burn Association, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
Kevin Peng Xu
National Rongxiang Xu Foundation
An entrepreneur and civic leader, Mr. Xu serves as CEO of MEBO International, a California and Beijing based company focused on drug discovery in the field of Regenerative Medicine. He is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, the Clinton Foundation, the Forbes Non-Profit Council, and serves on the California-China Trade and Investment Advisory Group, providing recommendations to California Governor Jerry Brown. Mr. Xu is a graduate of the University of Southern California and established the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation.

John Giurini, DPM

Dr. Giurini is Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Chief of the Division of Podiatry, and Co-Director of Wound Care-Hyperbaric Medicine at BIDMC. He received a DPM from the California College of Podiatric Medicine, and completed a residency in podiatric surgery at BIDMC. His clinical interests include diabetic foot wounds, reconstructive foot surgery, and sports injuries of the lower extremities.
Raul Guzman, MD

Dr. Guzman is is Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and a member of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at BIDMC. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins, completed a residency in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Stanford University. Dr. Guzman’s research interests include the development of novel approaches for the prevention and treatment of diabetic peripheral arterial disease and its complications.

Bernard T. Lee, MD, MBA, MPH, FACS

Dr. Lee is Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at BIDMC. He earned his MD from Tufts University, his MBA from the University of Massachusetts, and his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Lee completed his residency in general surgery at Tufts-New England Medical Center and a residency in plastic surgery at Albert Einstein - Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Lee’s clinical interests are focused on reconstructive surgery in the cancer patient. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery.
David J. Mooney, PhD

David J. Mooney, PhD, is the Robert P. Pinkas Family Professor of Bioengineering at the John A. Paulson Harvard School of Applied Sciences and Engineering. He is also a member of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University. Dr. Mooney earned his PhD in chemical engineering from MIT. Dr. Mooney’s studies the mechanisms by which chemical and mechanical signals are sensed by cells to promote tissue growth and remodeling. Dr. Mooney designs and synthesizes new biomaterials that regulate the gene expression of interacting cells for tissue engineering and drug delivery projects.
