Hospitalization During Pregnancy—Antepartum Care

A nurse comforts a pregnant patient during her stay.Pregnancy is an exciting time and ensuring good health for you and your baby is very important. Sometimes, prenatal checkups may show some complications that require you to be cared for in the hospital. If your doctors decide this is in the best interest of you and your baby, we will admit you to the antepartum unit at BIDMC. Some patients stay for days, while others may stay for weeks, depending on the diagnosis. When you stay in the hospital, you and your baby have the advantage of being monitored and cared for 24/7 by your doctor and nurses.

We understand that this can be a very difficult and stressful time for both you and your growing family. We encourage you to ask questions about your care at any time. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest level of care during this, often unanticipated, hospital admission as comfortable and safe as possible.
