BIDMC Named in Top Three Hospitals in Massachusetts

Boston, MA — Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) has been recognized for its high-quality care by U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-2027 Best Hospitals edition, placing in the top 50 hospitals nationwide in eight specialties. BIDMC was ranked in the top 10 nationwide for two of those specialties: obstetrics & gynecology and diabetes & endocrinology.

BIDMC was also named as the #3 best hospital in the Boston Metro Area region and #3 best hospital in Massachusetts.

  • Heart & Vascular
  • Geriatrics

The hospital received 20 high-performing ratings across specialties and procedures & conditions, including aortic valve surgery; colon cancer surgery; ear, nose & throat surgery; gynecological cancer surgery; heart bypass surgery; heart failure; kidney failure; leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma; lung cancer surgery; prostate cancer surgery; stroke; and urology.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions; less than half earned recognition in any of those 37 areas of care.

To determine the Best Hospitals, U.S. News analyzed each hospital’s performance based on objective measures such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
