About Our Inpatient Psychiatric Consultations

The BIDMC Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service provides physician-to-physician psychiatric consultation in the Emergency Department and on inpatient medical and surgical units throughout the hospital. We are available for consultation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our multidisciplinary team includes attending psychiatrists, psychiatric clinical nurse specialists, a psychiatric social worker, psychiatry residents in the BIDMC Harvard Residency Training Program, and Harvard Medical School students.

We provide evaluations and make diagnostic and treatment recommendations for patients who present with or develop neuropsychiatric symptoms during the course of their hospitalization at BIDMC. We collaborate with the primary treatment teams in these settings to provide the best possible care for these patients while they are in the emergency department or hospital.
