Organ Transplant at BIDMC
Each transplant recipient and donor at BIDMC's Transplant Institute is a unique individual with a diverse set of needs. Our Transplant Institute team is a multidisciplinary group of experts who are committed to compassionate patient involvement throughout the entire process: the initial evaluation, pre-transplant care, transplant surgery and follow-up care. Each member is an expert in his or her field and has experience in the special issues of transplant patients.
Consider Living Donation
Donating an organ to a person in need — be it loved one, friend, or stranger — is a wonderful and courageous gift. Our living donor team can help you understand the risks and benefits of the surgical procedure, manage your care and services, and provide support to you and your family.

Heart Transplant Program
The Beth Israel Lahey Health Heart Transplant Program provides patients access to comprehensive, life-saving care. The program is a member of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN).
Our team offers a comprehensive evaluation to determine the best plan of care. Patients work with a transplant coordinator to schedule tests and specialist visits as a part of this process.

Organ Transplant Programs
Liver Transplant
A liver transplant may be an option if you have advanced or end-stage liver disease, have deteriorating liver function and quality of life, and aren't able to benefit from other treatments.
Kidney Transplant
When your kidneys fail, you need one of two treatments to stay alive: kidney transplant or dialysis therapy. Our Transplant Team can help you evaluate your options.
Pancreas Transplant
A pancreas transplant may be an option if you have type 1 diabetes and have been unable to benefit from insulin therapy, and are experiencing a deteriorating quality of life.
