As I look at the title, I think I probably should have picked something else to introduce this topic. However, the people who track hits on the blog reported an enormous (like a thousand more than usual) rise in views on one earlier blog that was titled something like "Nipples". I hate to think who all those people are, but it amuses me to imagine their surprise and disappointment when they see they have reached a breast cancer site. Not what they had in mind!
This article is about a new tattoo process for reconstructed nipples--3D or trump l'oeil. There is a tattoo artist in the Boston area who does these; if you are interested, e mail or call me for her name. And here is a comment from a woman who attends one of my groups: she has tattoos and reconstructed nipples and is single and dating reports: men think they are real... even though they know I have had 2 mastectomies. Go figure... no need to 'correct them'.

Sheryl, a 49-year-old mother of two, never thought she would get a tattoo, but six months after a bilateral mastectomy to remove both her breasts, she plans to get not one, but two tattoos.
Sheryl's family is riddled with breast cancer. When she was
age 27, her 30-year-old sister died from breast cancer. Last summer her father died from breast cancer, and an uncle is now battling the disease. To reduce her odds of getting the disease from 87 percent to 5 percent, "I chose to have both breasts removed," says Sheryl, a Connecticut resident, who asked that her last name not be used.
Once her scars heal and the implants settle into place, she plans to get a three-dimensional tattoo of a nipple
and areola on both breasts -- instead of undergoing surgery to reconstruct her nipples.
